ORANGE, NJ – David Broderick, Chairman of the Board of The First Occupational Center of New Jersey, announced that Roland G. Matan, CPA, has been named to its board of directors.
Mr. Matan is a partner with Sobel & Co., LLC, of Livingston. He oversees the firm’s Non-profit and Social Services Group and is a key member of Sobel’s Leadership Team. With more than 30 years of public accounting and private industry experience, Mr. Matan is highly regarded for his expertise in developing business and strategic plans for new and emerging technologies. His skill in structuring financial projections for e-commerce companies contributed to Sobel’s receiving the prestigious Innovation Award bestowed annually by the industry publication, Practical Accountant. Mr. Matan also has considerable experience in mergers and acquisitions, and has arranged successful financing for various businesses.
For 13 years, Mr. Matan has been employed at both Big Four and national accounting firms in New York City. He also served as chief financial officer for various transportation companies. In addition to an expertise with nonprofit and social service organizations, he has a diverse background servicing clients in many other industries including retail, manufacturing, freight forwarding, advertising and technology.
Mr. Matan is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, and he and his family reside in Bethlehem, Pa.
The First Occupational Center of New Jersey is the state’s oldest and largest vocational and job placement agency, providing services to the developmentally and physically challenged, economically disadvantaged, and visually impaired seniors. The non-profit agency uses an entrepreneurial approach to training and securing jobs with the goal of helping workers transition from dependence to independence.
