March 22 , 2007

ORANGE, NJ – Niberson Peralta, a student at The Lakeside School, displays the properties of polymers in the “silly putty” he created for the school’s Science Fair.  The annual fair showcases different scientific principles that the children study throughout the year. Some of the entries included “how to make perfume,” “how a refrigerator works,” and “the process of recycling paper.”

The Lakeside School, a state-approved private school for the disabled and a division of The First Occupational Center of New Jersey, helps emotionally, physically and developmentally challenged students, ages 14 to 21, find success through an innovative academic/vocational program that enables them to become contributing members of their communities.

Training programs include Culinary Arts, Assembly and Production, Building Services, Printing Services, Building Trades, and Micrographics. Lakeside School is accredited by the Commission on Secondary Schools of the Middle States Association.
