Trainees learn the latest techniques and methods in the janitorial cleaning industry to provide full facility and specialized cleaning services for commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, and private cleaning contracts. Participants are trained to the highest standards through a combination of classroom and hands-on experience.

Black Seal Boiler Operator
Participants will prepare to sit for the New Jersey Boiler Certification (Low Pressure Black Seal). The program includes a 90-day internship/externship working with boilers that is required before taking the certification examination.

A three-month training program includes carpentry, electrical and plumbing instruction which leads to an externship in the field. Trainees often serve apprenticeships with local carpenter unions.

Participants will complete a four-week training program to develop employability and career development skills such as job search, resume development, interview skills, computer/internet resources and networking techniques.

Job Development for Seniors
Developed especially for individuals over age 55 who have never worked, or want to re-enter the workforce. The program helps the participants discover their talents, prepare for employment, and conduct a job search. Graduates have obtained jobs in a variety of positions including retail, allied health services, and security positions.

This course prepares individuals to utilize state-of-the-art scanning technologies and duplicate multiple documents on fiche for more practical storage.

Pre-Skills Prep/Home Health Aide
Students learn employability skills and what it means to be a home health aide as they prepare for a certification class offered by one of several home health aide agencies who partner with The First Occupational Center of New Jersey. Candidates need a 7 th grade reading level and must enjoy working with people.

Security Guard Training
Under the helm of our Abbry Security Division, trainees learn all aspects of uniformed, on-site security guard service as well as electronic security measures and loss prevention. Participants learn the skills needed to provide effective security in a business or residential setting. Opportunities are available for day, evening or weekend jobs.

Training participants to learn appropriate/relevant literacy and communication skills that can enhance their understanding and proficiency in a specific vocational training area.

OCNJ Driving School
Licensed by the New Jersey Motor Vehicles Commission, OCNJ Driving School specializes in Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) instruction, including classroom training and behind-the-wheel experience in trucks and buses, helping many to gain employment with top transportation companies. In addition, courses are offered in Defensive Driving and Regular Driver’s License (with road test). Instructors are certified by the NJ Department of Transportation, NJ Division of Motor Vehicles, and the National Safety Council.
